Captain Underpants and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are these the future of children’s books? #books #hybrid

It dawned on me today whilst I was reading Captain Underpants with my son that the most popular books with children now seem to be a sort of hybrid between a graphic novel and a traditional one. I think that these books are quite interesting and I do like the way they merge two mediums together. Whilst the artwork is simplistic, it is effective and I have to say that my son and I have enjoyed reading them. I know there are many traditionalists out there who dislike them and that’s fine. Of course everyone must make up their own opinion. For me the important thing is that they get kids reading and that’s the main thing.
